Great Outdoor Ads

I have not posted anything on my blog in quite some time (I was on such a roll!).  I have been busy with a new client engagement for The Martin Agency that has me commuting back and forth to Seattle …and between the crazy project hours and the jet lag I have not had much time for anything else + an entire month passed me by in a blink.  Will try to balance time better so I can get back into blogroutine.

Without further ado — I came across this today and thought it was great.  With all the talk about how digital advertising is becoming more and more prevalent at the expense of TV, Print, …well just about all the others …it is nice to see some really innovative work within one of the channels being downsized.  This is coming from a digital guy, so no haterade in there.  This is just really great work, and I appreciate that.

PayPal Opens Up to 3rd Party Developers

PayPal recently opened up its platform to 3rd party developers.  Honestly I am surprised that they had not done this much earlier, and was a little shocked to see this news that seeking innovation from outside their walls was a new thing.

Nevertheless, they have opened things up and to kick this off they have launched a small campaign to get the ideas flowing.  Obviously they are hoping to create awareness in general, but also create some heightened interest from their primary target audience (primary target = ideally the 3rd party developers that are sitting on badass monetary innovation ideas).

PayPal

They have developed a Microsite called ChangeHowWePay.com that honestly is nothing more than a landing page with the announcement, a twitter feed, and a request to start sending ideas via a twitter #hashtag.  They also created a commercial/ video that dwells on showing various future-states of monetary transaction.  Cheesy music track, but the content in the video is really good.  Cool thumbprint verification in there, but I was surprised to NOT see some use of a mobile phone as a method of user ID to complete a transaction.

Looking forward to what ideas emerge.  I have never had any issues using PayPal and think it is a great service.

Truly Interactive Stuff from McDonalds

Although I am a digital guy, I cannot deny that this is truly an interactive advertising experience.  Not something I would expect from McDonalds.  Typically when you have a brand that churns out soooooo much volume of work it all gets watered down.  Not the case with this this idea.  Nothing else to say than …Brilliant!
